Summer Reading Club Coordinator (Temporary)

Closing Date: May 21st, 2024

Job Description: The Rossland Public Library is seeking qualified applicants for a Full-Time Summer Reading Club Coordinator position beginning June 4th, 2024 and ending August 24th, 2024.

Duties include:

  • Plan, organize and implement our 2024 BC Summer Reading Club program for children aged 3 – 14.
  • Create a welcoming club space with craft tables, murals and library books.
  • Promote the program in schools, on social media and local newspaper.
  • Plan weekly programs, invite special guests, and prepare crafts and games for all age groups.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 12.
  • Between the age of 16-30.
  • Full-time post secondary student returning to full time studies in fall 2024.
  • Previous library experience is an asset but not necessary.

Abilities and Experience:

  • Confident communicator.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Mature, reliable and responsible.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Energetic with an ability to create a welcoming environment for young people.
  • Knowledge of filming and editing videos.
  • Comfortable with technology and online tools for delivery and promotion of services (Facebook, Instagram, Canva, etc.)
  • Arts/crafts, drama and storytelling skills.
  • A love of reading and libraries.

Hours:

32 hours per week including evenings and Saturdays.

Wages:

$18.40/hour.

  • Work with the Summer Reading Club Coordinator to deliver our 2024 BC Summer Reading Club program for children aged 3 – 14.
  • Create a welcoming club space with craft tables, murals and library books.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 9.
  • Between the age of 16-30.
  • Previous library experience is an asset but not necessary.
